Congratulations to you and the Korean Economic Association on the 60th anniversary of
the association's founding. The association's growth reflects the remarkable rise of the
Korean economics profession and indeed of the Korean economy itself over these six
decades. I wish you and the association continued success in coming decades in your work
encouraging young scholars, building academic communities within Korea, and in developing
the already strong ties between Korean economists and those in other countries.
